Environmental Services

Environmental Services are responsible for the management and operational delivery of the landscape and grounds maintenance, waste collection, recycling and cleansing services.

Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Services

  • are responsible for the strategic management and maintenance of 725 hectares of public open space, including the active and pro-active, development and partnership work and the setting of quality standards.
  • aims to deliver a cost-effective, high quality and responsive landscaping service which meets the needs of local residents.
  • the Landscape Capital Project is a capital funded project to enhance areas of landscape within the Borough which present a community safety issue, the source of large numbers of public complaints or areas of trees and shrubs which were planted at a very high density and require major maintenance.

Waste Management Services

  • have strategic responsibility for the waste collection and cleansing services, including the production of strategies, monitoring of cleanliness standards, liaison with the County Council and investigation and enforcement.
  • the operational street cleansing service aims to deliver a cost-effective, high quality and responsive service which meets the needs of local residents. In addition, the service is responsible for the removal of graffiti in the towns underpasses in a partnership with the County Council.
  • the waste collection service aims to provide a high quality, cost-effective and responsive domestic refuse, recycling and bulky waste collection service for the Borough.

Cemeteries and Crematorium

  • are responsible for the day to day management of the Council's three cemeteries and crematorium which handle some 100 cremations and 100 burials per year.

Waste Collection - Easter Bank Holiday

Please note there will be no disruption to your refuse or recycling collection over the Easter Holidays.  Please place your bin kerbside as normal.
