Recycling in the Workplace
Redditch Borough Council does not have legal
responsibility for trade, commercial or industrial recycling - if
you are a profit making organisation, you have a responsibility to
dispose of your waste in a legal manner.
However, following the pre-treatment regulations being
introduced in late 2007, over the last year there have been a
number of new opportunities for recycling from work in England.
You should contact your current trade waste provider who will be
able to tell you about their recycling collections.
The following companies do provide a recycling service to
businesses at a cost (you need to contact them directly for a
quote).
However in some circumstances, depending on the type of waste
you create, this cost will be comparable to your current waste
collection and disposal costs.

Other sources of information:
For many local businesses, the cost of waste is increasing.
Landfill tax is now £40 per tonne (2009/10), rising by £8 per tonne
every year. The rising costs of waste disposal are a result of
increased pressure on landfill space.
Waste can cost organisations as much as 4% of their turnover,
but many of these costs are indirect and thus hidden. Waste
reduction can therefore lead to substantial savings.
