Electoral Services Assitant

Bromsgrove District Council
£16,998 per annum
6 month temporary contract 37 hours per week

Electoral Services across the country are currently undergoing major changes so this is an exciting time to join the team!

Electoral Shared Services are seeking to appoint an assistant to support the team with daily office processes and with the delivery of free and fair elections to the residents of Bromsgrove and Redditch

The post holder will work within the friendly Elections team assisting with day-to-day maintenance of an accurate register of electors and administrative tasks in connection with the 2015 electoral programme.

The role involves a variety of tasks including, data checking and inputting, taking telephone registrations and enquiries, communicating with Councillors, candidates and election agents, as well as preparing and issuing equipment such as polling booths and ballot boxes

Good organisational skills are essential, and the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload accurately, are essential. An interest and basic understanding of the UK electoral process are advantageous.

Electoral Services – Democratic Engagement Officer

Bromsgrove District Council
£8.00 per hour
Hours: Variable hours over a 12 month period; as described in job description and person specification
 
Following a nationwide overhaul of the voter registration process, the way people register to vote has changed and two exciting new vacancies have opened up within the electoral services team.

We are looking to recruit two Democratic Engagement Officers to actively promote voter registration amongst under registered groups and to assist with voter engagement in all areas of the community. 

Officers will be primarily based within the community and will be responsible for identifying and engaging with individuals who require a little extra guidance or assistance when registering to vote. This may include visiting care homes, student accommodation or empty properties to ensure all who are able to vote are registered.  Officers will also be called upon to assist with peak electoral periods.

This post requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work in a sensitive, professional and politically sensitive manner with individuals who may be unable or unwilling to engage is essential. The post requires some office based IT work which commands a high degree of accuracy and data sensitivity.
