Walks

Access to walking in Arrow Valley Park is available 365 day a year 24/7. We hold a Health Walk twice a week from the centre. We also run guided wildlife walks throughout the year. The park covers approximately 900 acres of recreational playing fields, wild flower meadows, grazed meadows and woodland. Disabled access is good around most of the park but not all paths are fully accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are four waymark trails, ranging from 1 to 4 miles, through the park, all starting from Arrow Valley Countryside Centre.

Health Walks

The Health Walks were set up in 2004, as a nationwide initiative to get people out into the fresh air and gain some form of regular exercise. Currently we hold two walks per week on a monday and thursday morning.

Firstly the Monday walks. This walk is aimed at people of all abilities, you chose your own pace. The walk lasts approximately an hour and starts at 11:00 am, meeting at the Countryside Centre. For newcomers to the walk there is a form to fill in on arrival, so aim to be here 15 minutes before the start. There is a walk leader who will walk at the front and a middle and back marker, to help if anyone has a problem. Many leaders are First Aid Trained, and help voluntarily with the walks. If you wish to help volunteer with the walks, training events are held at regular points throughout the year.

The Thursday walk is a longer walk of around four miles, starting at the centre and lasting just over an hour. The same set up as the Monday applies with leader, middle and back markers.

Waymarked Trails

walk

The way marked trails were established under a joint initiative with Worcestershire County Council. There are four different trails:

  • Lakeside Trail, approx 1 mile.
  • Meadows Trail, approx 1 1/2 miles.
  • Woodland Trail, approx 2 1/2 miles.
  • Millers Trail, approx 4 miles

There is a map of the trails outside the Countryside Centre, and individual leaflets for each trail, available from the gift shop free of charge. The leaflets contain information on the walk and give a map of the route.

Follow this link to download the leaflets and find out more Trails.
