Thinking of buying?  Think again...

RBC-Community-Safety-BikeRBC-Community-Safety-Scooter

You may have read a large number of articles about the ILLEGAL riding of various petrol and battery powered machines such as these shown here.

As Christmas approaches, it is likely that many of you will consider buying one of these machines for your child/children.  Whilst we do not want to spoil anyone’s fun and enjoyment, we urge you to STOP and THINK before you buy.

QUITE SIMPLY, THESE MACHINES CAN ONLY BE RIDDEN ON PRIVATE LAND WITH THE OWNER’S PERMISSION.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THEY EVER BE RIDDEN ON FOOTHPATHS.

If ridden on roads, they must comply with the road traffic legislation detailed on the accompanying sheet for your information.  Please read it carefully.

Don’t put your child’s life, or that of others, at risk by ignoring the law.  That is nothing short of irresponsible and criminal – how would you feel if your child, or a family member, was killed or injured or was responsible for the death or injury of another person…???

Redditch Borough Council, in conjunction with West Merica Constabulary, is working on a campaign to remove these machines which are being ILLEGALLY ridden.  This could cost you dear – both financially and in Motoring Offences.

Our advice is simple – unless you have access to PRIVATE LAND with the OWNER’S PERMISSION and get there without riding on the Public Highway or Footpaths…

DON’T BUY ONE!!!
