Introduction

The purpose of the In-Curtilage Parking Schemeis to encourage residents of Redditch to create initial off road parking within the boundaries of their own properties, in order to improve access, visual amenity and security throughout the roads and estates of Redditch.

The Council is aware that the costs involved in creating off road parking can be significant and so considers it beneficial to offer financial assistance towards the cost of creating a vehicular access by means of a grant of £400 to each successful applicant.

Please note that there are limited funds available in any one year and applications will be dealt with individually in date order of verified applications.

Creation of a second parking space will not qualify.

Where do I start

If you are interested in creating  initial off road parking and would like to know if you are eligible for a grant for creating a vehicular access; then please contact Redditch Borough Council’s Property Management Section (01527 64252 ext 3301) to register your interest and request for a Grant Application Form. This is a link to a PDF file. (79.59 KB) or apply onlne

What happens next?

Property Services Section, it will then be processed and a decision on your eligibility for a grant will be sent to you in writing.

Upon receiving confirmation that your application has been successful, your next step will be to contact Worcestershire County Council via the Worcestershire Hub (01527 534123) in order to apply for a licence to create a vehicular crossing over highways land.  A highways engineer will carry out a site inspection and if permission is given, you will be issued with a licence allowing you to choose a contractor to carry out the work from a list of County Council approved contractors.

Please be aware that retrospective applications will not be considered.   Therefore you must not instruct a contractor to carry out any work prior to confirmation of your eligibilty for a grant

Upon the completion of works, you will need to source and provide a copy of the bill from your chosen contractor before your grant for £400 is issued to you.  An inspection by an officer of the Borough Council of the access/car parking space will also need to be carried out to ensure it has been constructed to an acceptable standard.

In the event that works are not required to create a vehicular access or to cross an adopted public footpath, Redditch Borough Council will process the application and if accepted the grant for £400 will be available subject to evidence of expenditure for creating off road parking exceeding £400.
