Special Needs housing provides help and advice when your current property no longer suits your needs. Usually on a referral from an occupational therapist for major adaptations to be carried out.
A special needs tenancy officer will investigate whether it is possible to carry out the occupational therapist's recommendation, answer questions on the adaptation process, advise on the length of waiting time, to complete any necessary adaptations. If appropriate enquire whether the tenant would be interested in transferring to a more suitable property and explain the CBL system.
If an applicant has a medical condition which is affected by the property, the special needs tenancy officer will make an appointment with the applicant to carry out a home visit.
A report will be prepared for the tenancy manager and housing options manager requesting the appropriate banding.
