The West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy, formerly known as ‘Regional Planning Guidance for the West Midlands’, was approved by the First Secretary of State in June 2004.
The main purpose of the RSS is to provide a spatial strategy that will guide the preparation of local plans and transport plans created by local authorities, so that they can deliver a coherent framework for regional development. The new Borough of Redditch Local Plan No.3 must be in conformity with the RSS.
The RSS may also be a material planning consideration when dealing with individual planning applications and appeals, and provides the Regional context to guide the preparation of the future District Local Development Framework.
The RSS is produced by the Government Office for the West Midlands. To view this document please click here or contact the Government Office of the West Midlands 5 St Philip's Place, Birmingham B3 2PW
