As well as UK and EU legislation, all Redditch Borough Council purchases are governed by our own Standing Orders (Number 46)
These Contract Procedure Rules set out how the Council will invite tenders and let contracts for the supply of goods, works and services. The purpose of these Rules is to ensure that contracts are appropriate for their purpose, provide the right balance between price and quality and are procured in an open way that demonstrates probity and compliance with Council policies. The regulations depend upon the estimated value of the purchase:
Up to £1,500; the officer will take reasonable steps to ensure that the purchase represents value for money.
£1,501 - £5,000; Quotations will be sought from three suppliers
£5,001 - £40,000; a written specification will be produced and a minimum of 3 written quotes sought from suppliers.
Over £40, 000 but below the European threshold; a written specification will be produced and a minimum of 3 written tenders will be sought through a formal tendering process. A notice\advert will be placed in a local newspaper and appropriate trade journal where appropriate.

£144,000 over four years:
Tenders will be invited from a minimum of five suppliers.
In addition to advertising in a local newspaper and appropriate trade journal, a notice will be placed
in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
Works contract over £3,600,000 over four years:
Tenders
will be invited from a minimum of six suppliers. Adverts will be placed in a local newspaper, appropriate
trade journal and OJEU
