Redditch Borough Council has adopted the “Leader and Cabinet” model of executive.
The Council appoints (and can remove) the Leader and any other members of the Cabinet, which at Redditch Borough Council is known as the Executive Committee. Appointments are normally made at the Annual meeting of the Council in May.
The Executive Committee comprises of 6 Conservative Councillors and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor. The Executive Committee takes decisions collectively; no individual members of the Executive Committee have delegated powers to take decisions on behalf of the Committee.
From amongst the membership of the Executive Committee, 6 Portfolio Holders have been appointed.
The Leader of the Council has to publish a Forward Plan each month which lists the key decisions that are likely to be taken by the Executive Committee or Council in the following four months.
