Redditch Borough Council (RBC) have commissioned the production of an arts plan to establish a clear focus and role for itself in the development and support of the arts in the Redditch area over the next ten years. Key steps to achieving this is the development of a policy statement for the arts and the establishment of a five year strategic plan to ensure effective, efficient and focussed delivery.
Mission Statement
Redditch Borough Council is committed to improving and increasing the opportunities for engaging in arts activities within Redditch. We will be aspirational and ambitious in our plans, and strive to develop Redditch as a hub of creative activity.
The following values serve as underlying principles for the Arts Policy:
- ccess to opportunity - we will focus on developing opportunities for those people in Redditch who have had little or no access to creative activities in the past
- Participation - we will support activities where local people have the opportunity to explore and enjoy their creativity and enhance their quality of life, in particular by working with professional artists
- Employment, training, education and lifelong learning - we will create opportunities for developing the creative skills of local people, enhancing both their experience of leisure activities and the capabilities of Redditch’s existing and emerging workforce
- Diversity - Redditch’s cultural mix is a significant asset in developing inspirational arts activities - we will reflect and celebrate the diversity of the Borough through the work we support and deliver
- Partnership - the success of our Arts Plan will require commitment from many partners within and outside the Council - we will work to develop effective partnerships where responsibility is shared appropriately
- Quality of experience - we will develop our partnerships and working practices to deliver and support arts activities and initiatives that offer a quality experience for audiences, participants and artists.
