My Services

Reuse (Freecycle, furniture and electrical items)

freecycle

This is a great service which is just for people who live in Redditch and, allows residents to re-use items within the town rather than throw them away. It is very like e-bay, but everything is free - and is in operation all over the world! You need to register with Yahoo email first, which is really simple, and then you have full acess to FREECYCLE.

For more information visit

For non-Yahoo members  http://www.freecycle.org/display.php?region=United%20Kingdom

(Find Worcestershire and then go to Redditch)

What the group says -"The Redditch Freecycle™ group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out freecycle.org for other cities and info on the movement! E-mail  redditch-freecycle-owner@yahoogroups.com for questions or improvement ideas! "

FURNITURE and WORKING ELECTRICAL ITEMS

Boomerang...

...are a charity based on Beaufort Street and Alcester Street in the Town Centre and they accept furniture, bric-a-brac, clothing, jewellry, video's and cds and electrical items for re-use within the town - telephone 01527 68250 for more information or to arrange a free collection.

Newstart...

...are a charity based in Bromsgrove but serves all of Redditch too. They accept the following items if in a decent, reusable condition; furniture, electrical items, bedding and curtains and any other items such as bric-a brac which could be reused to provide unwanted goods to people in need locally. More information is provided in the leaflet below, or call Newstart on 01527 882410 who can arrange a free collection of your items (a small donation would be appreciated to support the ongoing work)

Another option would be a charity which recycles furniture only is Roundabout, which is based in Evesham.

For further information call: (01386)83 30 30 - alternatively visit their website Furniture Turn Around

ELECTRICAL ITEMS - unfortunately the Network is no longer operating (as of 8th July 2008).

If your items are not suitable for re-use the other disposal options are to take the items to the household waste site on Crossgates Road - staff on site will be happy to advise you on whether or not it can be recycled and where to place your item. Alternatively, you could use the bulky household waste collection service which costs £10 for up to 3 items - to book a collection call (01527) 534123.
