Redditch also has formal “Friendship” links with:

This first "Friendship Link" dates back to 1990. It became a full twinning on 24th April 2006.The majority of the “descendants of Windrush” living in Redditch come from this part of Jamaica.

The link is mainly family based.

St. Elizabeth is a Parish on the South Western side of the island. Its main town is Black River.

There are several local tourist attractions, such as Lovers' Leap.

GRUCHET-LE-VALASSE

This link dates officially back to 1992, and has recently celebrated its first 10 years anniversary, although the Cistercian Abbeys of Bordesley and le Valasse have been linked for 800 yearAlthough this link dates back only approx. 15 years, the “Sister” Abbeys of Bordesley and le Valasse have effectively been linked for 800 years, having been constructed by the same order of cistercian monks.  

An annual visit each way is now established and the “Friends of Gruchet-le-Valasse” (FroG) are now a thriving organisation.  Full twin-town status was granted on 24th April 2006.

Gruchet is near Bolbec in the Seine-Maritime Departement (76).

GUJAR KHAN

This very new link was approved in September 2003, further to a request to the Council from the RPCF.

The majority of Redditch's Pakistani residents originate from Gujar Khan (Urdu: گوجرخان ) which is located in Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is one of six tehsil (Sub-Division) of Rawalpindi District, 55 Kilometres / 34.5 Miles South East of Islamabad. In 2006, approximate population of city and its surroundings is 71,000 [2]. Gujar Khan is famous for its natural reserves of Oil, Natural Gas, and also being the heart of Potohar region.
