Redditch Wage Rate Survey 05/06

Redditch Borough Council’s Economic Development Service collects local wage rate information, which can be an invaluable resource for the town’s employers.

The information published is based on positions advertised in the local press between July 2005 and June 2006 inclusive, making it one of the most up-to date sources of wage rate information for Redditch.

The right attitude

One of the main strengths of Redditch as a business location is its dedicated workforce.  Renowned for its strong work ethic, Redditch’s workforce continues to demonstrate versatility, reliability and entrepreneurial flare.  Attitudes to shift working amongst the labour force are positive, reflecting the tradition of shift patterns in the manufacturing sector.

The right skills mix

Redditch has a diverse workforce, providing a good range of skill levels to meet most employers’ needs.  The town also benefits from having several top quality Universities close by, each with strong links to local industry, providing a ready supply of talented graduates each year.

Local organisations are committed to equipping the Town’s workforce with the necessary skills to benefit from new employment opportunities, for example, opportunities stemming from developments such as the recent town centre expansion and the proposed Abbey Stadium Development.

There are ample training opportunities in Redditch itself, with the Redditch and Bromsgrove based North East Worcestershire College offering a variety of courses ranging from Automotive Engineering to Marketing.  There are also numerous private training companies offering professional development courses in a number of specialist areas.

Workforce catchment

Due to its central location and excellent road links, local employers are able to draw their workforce from several major urban centres.
