Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 give people the right to request information held by public authorities.  This Right to Know allows you access to a range of recorded information held by the Council.  You do not need to give a reason for requesting information.  Although the information requested will be released wherever possible, some types of information may be exempt from the right of access.  There may be a charge for some information.

Requests for information should be made in writing (e.g. letter, form, Fax, e-mail) but Council staff will be ready to advise and assist if necessary.  Requests for environmental information may also be made orally.

The Council already publishes a lot of information and you can find out about this by looking at our Publication Scheme  (56.03 KB).  This sets out how the information can be obtained and if there is a charge for it.

Requesting Information

Requests for information made by post should be directed to the Manager of the relevant Service or to the relevant Director at the Town Hall, Alcester Street, Redditch, Worcs. B98 8AH.

Applicants can also make requests in person, and request advice and assistance, at any of the Council's One Stop Shops.

A request form is available to assist applicants, but its use is not compulsory.This can be obtained on the Council's website or from the Town Hall and One Stop Shops.
