SchoolsWelcome to the Forge Mill Schools Programme. Nursery, primary, middle, high, colleges, special needs – we cater for all! Bordesley AbbeyA visit to Bordesley Abbey offers a unique opportunity for pupils to work on archaeological evidence in context. Through the activities the pupils are encouraged to engage in the kind of evidence-based deductive reasoning which is what good history is all about. They are practising key skills of communication, working with others and problem solving. Forge MillSchools can also enhance their study of Victorian Britain by bringing their pupils to Forge Mill to investigate the needle trade. In our historic building, some parts of which date back to the 18th century, children can learn about the process of needle making and can experience how it felt to work in the mill. We aim to provide the children with the opportunity to see, feel and smell the working conditions of the industry, whilst gaining an insight into local history. Whatever you curriculum aim or level there are many fun & educational activities to offer, including:
