Unlocking the PastVisit our special feature Unlocking The Past. Funded by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, via English Heritage. This project has created internet resources and hosted events which tell the story of human occupation in Worcestershire from prehistoric times onwards. There is an e-gallery, reviews of events and school teaching resources. The quarries "old and new" section was expanded in December 2008 |

An Iron Age Settlement site at Blackstone.WHEAS re-visits excavations carried out in the 1970s at Blackstone, near Bewdley in North Worcestershire. In 1957 a fascinating Iron Age Settlement was discovered by aerial photography, in the form of a double-ditched promontory enclosure overlooking the River Severn at Blackstone, near Bewdley. In 2007-8 a survey of archaeological remains along the Severn's banks, from Worcester to Tewkesbury, revealed details of industry and trade from the late prehistoric period onwards.
