Mapping

The primary concern of the Countryside Mapping Team is the Definitive Map and Statement which is the legal record of public rights of way. The functions that are carried out in connection with this include:

• Ensuring the routes of all public rights of way are kept free from obstruction
• Monitoring planning applications to help prevent future obstruction of public rights of way
• Correcting any omissions, errors and anomalies on the Definitive Map and Statement
• Making permanent changes to the network of public rights of way in response to applications or identified needs or improvements
• Making temporary changes to public rights of way
