The JAR Process

The Jar process consists of four key aspects
- Self-Assessment – the inspectors require a comprehensive document ‘self-assessing’ the current position and future plans for services for children in Worcestershire. The new Children and Young People’s Plan will form the main part of Worcestershire’s self assessment. The Plan will be published in April 2008, following wide consultation and an in-depth needs analysis.
- On-site fieldwork – The inspectors will spend time in Worcestershire observing in different settings throughout the county and meeting with relevant partners. This will take place during the weeks beginning 30 June 2008 and 7 July 2008.
- Case file audit – Inspectors will carry out close scrutiny of a sample of case files, including interviews with families and key professionals involved with those files. We will supply OfSTED with a list of 100 files and they will select 10 to be closely examined.
- Document analysis – OfSTED request various local documents including plans and strategies, which the inspectors will read and analyse.
