250 Words on Worcestershire

Worcestershire is a beautiful county that hasn’t stood still. It manages to combine quintessential English charm and 21st century appeal in an effortless blend.

This picturesque county has a unique blend of lush countryside, enchanting rural villages, pretty gardens and vibrant towns that will capture your heart. Take a breath of country air by walking on the stunning Malvern Hills or exploring the woodlands of the Forest of Wyre. Be inspired by the industrial heritage of Bromsgrove and Redditch. Discover the numerous scenic waterways and miles of peaceful riverbanks, wander through the elegant spa towns of Malvern and Droitwich Spa and escape to the irresistible charm of Broadway in the Cotswolds.

Everywhere in the county are signs of Worcestershire’s fascinating heritage and its industrial past. The county is home to the famous Royal Worcester Porcelain factory and The Commandery Museum which celebrates Worcester’s importance during the English Civil War. Worcestershire’s industrial past can be explored in steam-hauled splendour by climbing aboard the Severn Valley Railway, the track meanders alongside the River Severn and allows visitors to fully appreciate the scenic beauty of the county.

Worcestershire is home to a variety of historic houses flaunting the wealth of years gone by. Hanbury Hall (National trust), The Greyfriars (National Trust) and Harvington Hall are all superb examples of period stately homes. Witley Court (English Heritage) was once a magnificent manor house home to exquisite parties but now it is a romantic fire ravaged ruin with glorious grounds and beautiful fountains. The grounds are also home to Britain’s finest Baroque church with ornate murals by Antonio Bellucci.
